Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
